This Privacy Policy explains how Kriative Tech Limited ("Drop", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects your personal information when you use the Drop apps, website and services (the "Service"). We are committed to handling your data responsibly and in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act.
1. Information we collect
- Account details: your name, phone number and, optionally, email, home area and an emergency contact.
- Rider details (drivers only): a face photo, keke plate number, keke colour, zone and guarantor details, for verification and passenger safety.
- Location: your device's GPS location, to set your pickup, find nearby kekes, calculate fares and show live trip progress.
- Trip information: pickup and destination, route, distance, fare, and trip history.
- Device information: a push-notification token and basic device data needed to run the app.
- Waitlist: if you join our waitlist, the name, email and phone you provide.
2. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and verify your phone number.
- To match passengers with nearby riders and enable trips.
- To calculate fares and show live driver location and estimated arrival.
- To provide safety features such as live trip sharing and the emergency button.
- To send you trip updates and important service notifications.
- To keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and comply with the law.
3. Location data
We use your location only while you are using the app for its ride features. Passengers' pickup location and riders' live location are shared with the other party during an active trip so you can find each other and track the ride. You can control location access through your device settings, though some features will not work without it.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal data. We share the minimum necessary with:
- Other users in a trip: a passenger sees their rider's name, photo, rating and vehicle; a rider sees the passenger's pickup and destination.
- Service providers that help us run Drop, including payment processing (Paystack), maps and routing (Google), SMS and verification codes (Termii), image storage (Cloudinary) and cloud hosting. They may only use your data to provide their service to us.
- Authorities where required by law, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our users and the public.
5. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. When it is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
6. Your rights
You may request to access, correct or delete your personal data, or to close your account. You can do this in the app or by contacting us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time and in line with applicable law.
7. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections and secure storage of access credentials on your device. No system is completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
8. Children
Drop is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the "last updated" date above.
